Willis Smith Construction Celebrate The Ribbon Cutting of the Friendship Walk at Bashaw Elementary

05/31/2017

Sarasota, FL, May 31, 2017– Willis Smith Construction celebrates the Ribbon Cutting of the Friendship Walk Project at Bashaw Elementary, Bradenton, FL. This project was generated by the Student Council President, Elainna Villegass and Joshua Turner, Vice President. The project consist of 4 Wheelchair Assessable Picnic Tables and 4 Buddy Benches. It took 6 months of planning and fundraising together as the Student Council worked diligently to raise $4,000 to support the Project. The idea of the Friendship Walk Project was to create picnic table areas for students that are wheelchair bound. Elainna and Joshua reached out to the Parents of Connor Dzembo, a 4th Grade Student with a rare progressive disease that has left him wheel chair bound. The Students wanted to make sure Connor and other Students like him could still be a part of the Group so four special Picnic Tables were created for these students to just roll up to sit with their friends. The Buddy Benches designed are for Students that feel lonely or need a friend. If someone has bullied, then they can sit on the bench and other students will quickly support them and possibly make a new friend, stated Joshua Turner. Willis Smith Construction generously created the concrete pads and sidewalks for the tables and Buddy benches that were installed last week. Willis Smith Construction and Blalock Walters, Attorney at Law generously donated financial support to Bashaw Friendship Walk project. Willis A.
