From the company’s beginning in 1972, Willis A. Smith Construction, Inc. has always been known for quality construction. Although the size and complexity of the projects has grown over the years, the emphasis on quality construction has always remained. From a small country church to a huge office complex to a school for 970 students, Willis A. Smith Construction, Inc. has and will continue to build these structures with the same attention to detail and concern for the client’s needs and budget.
At Willis A. Smith Construction, Inc. we take a rifle-shot approach at developing new clients and expanding our role with existing clients. Since 1972 we have learned what we are very good at and we stick to it. Key project types include educational facilities (K-12, Community College and College and Universities), medical-related facilities, commercial buildings, museums, research facilities and special-use facilities (country clubs, visitor's centers, theaters).
Most of our clients are institutional clients including a number of 501- C-3 tax-exempt organizations. The balance we maintain between public and private work is approximately 60/40%. By avoiding trying to be "all things to all people" we stay focused on our long-term clients while marketing select new clients who desire a long-term mutually beneficial relationship.
