Safety

Our team implements the best safety practices to mitigate against accidents and injuries. All associates, from the President to a newly hired team member, view safety as a top priority. We employ the services of an independent safety director to monitor the safety of our projects and people.

This Provides:

  • Independent Safety Inspections
  • Creates a job safety plan
  • Mock OSHA Inspections
  • Safety Report, copied to subcontractors

Technology

Willis A. Smith Construction, Inc. has utilized methods of managing construction projects which require exacting coordination of resources, time, and money. The firm has invested in the use of the following technologies

Communicate

Sustainability

As a member of the US Green Building Council since 2009, our team has built more than _#_ sustainable and LEED, GreenGlobes, Energy Star, and FGBC certified projects in Southwest Florida.

  • 15 LEED® Accredited Professionals on staff
  • Help our clients achieve or exceed their initial sustainability and performance goals

Construction Management

Construction Management at Risk (CM-at-Risk) is the preferred delivery system for larger construction projects in Florida. It’s a delivery system that uses specialized, project management techniques to oversee the planning, design, and construction of a project, from inception, and pre-construction services to completion and grand opening.

  • Contractor involved from the beginning of the design process
  • An open-book delivery system making pricing comfortable
  • Increases efficiency in staying on time and on budget

General Contracting

This process is the traditional approach to builds, where our team would provide all construction services for the project. General Contractors hire subcontractors, coordinate the work, and are responsible for paying subcontractors and vendors.

  • Supervise the construction or development of a property
  • Manage project schedule, control project costs, and deliver a great result
  • The Contractor might use its own employees for certain projects, in the owner’s best interest

Design-Build

Design/Build Delivery is a construction delivery methodology that is gaining a great deal of momentum because of its simplicity (from an Owner’s perspective) and cost saving potential. Under Design/Build delivery, the Designer/Builder warrants the sufficiency of the plans and specifications to the Owner.

The Designer/Builder owns the details of the design and the Designer/Builder is responsible for any “gaps” between plans and specifications and the Owner’s requirements for performance. The Design/Builder pays for any shortfalls. Typically the Design/Build team is led by the construction side, although is not unusual occasionally to see a team led by the A/E component. Regardless of the leading role, the benefit to the Owner is the “single point of contact” concept.

Preconstruction

This process is the traditional approach to builds, where our team would provide all construction services for the project. General Contractors hire subcontractors, coordinate the work, and are responsible for paying subcontractors and vendors.

  • Evaluate ideas and alternatives in the design process
  • Utilize management tools, technology and innovative thinking to identify, address, and solve issues before construction begins
  • Enables driving the design to your budget, rather than budget the design
  • Creating shared project goals for benchmarking and measuring progress
  • Developing creative, value-driven alternatives that maintain design, performance and aesthetic objectives
