Ringling College of Art & Design - Whitaker Bayou Studios
This project consisted of the construction of four buildings that included 12,800 SF of new studios/classrooms, offices and the Crosley Gallery. The buildings and plaza were constructed in the Whitaker Bayou floodplain, thus requiring a piling and grade beam foundation system over a crawl space. The project also included repair of the seawall cap. The buildings were strategically placed to preserve numerous Grand Florida Live Oak trees throughout the project site. Special care was taken to modify the foundation systems to avoid cutting the prominent roots of some of the trees.
